Five For Friday: Confession Session

FFFConfessions_6-1

I’m stealing an idea from Kayla Aimee’s blog (which you should totally check out, because she’s awesome). I’ve been a little ‘eh’ about Seven Quick Takes Friday so I thought I’d switch up my Friday posting a little.

1) I didn’t mention this anywhere, not even on Twitter, but I totally failed on my soda fast. I lasted until 8pm on Friday night, which takes me to about 46 hours without soda. Around 7ish, I got a headache and felt a little weak and dizzy. And, gosh darnit, I was at Carrabba’s and having dinner – I wanted a Coke! So I had one, and I enjoyed it. Immensely. Since then, I’ve had about a Coke a day. I do want to drink less of it but I'm not sure if I totally want to cut it out of my life. I love it! Why should I totally give up something I love? I want to get to the point where I only drink it on Sundays (my “cheat” day) and when I’m eating out. Right now, I’m implementing “No Coke Days,” which is pretty self-explanatory.

2) I bought a webcam a few weeks ago to join the 21st century and start Skype-ing. The webcam is totally set up and ready to go. But I haven’t Skyped yet. And I need to. Who wants to break my Skype virginity?

3) I gained 2 pounds in the past two weeks.

4) I have squeezed my dog’s ears way too much in the past week. Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this.

5) I’ve never liked Siobhan on American Idol. While she does have a powerful voice, when she’s just singing regularly, it grates on my ears. And I’ve never felt any good connection with her. On the other hand, Lee Dewyze might just be my future husband.

  1. Hey, I quit soda a couple months ago and I was drinking 2 or 3 a day. I stopped completely (zero sodas) for a month to show myself I could do it and now I let myself have one about once a week. You know how I did it? Vitamin Water! I am not a water drinker, so it's hard for me to just drink water all day, but the Vitamin Water was so good. Anytime I went to the vending machine at school, I would get a Vitamin Water instead of a soda. It made it so easy to stop. So maybe try to find another drink you love like that and every time you find yourself wanting a soda, get that drink instead.

  2. I just discovered Rose Kitten likes having her ears squeezed too, so I'm totally with you :)

I can break your skyping virginity!!

  3. Going cold turkey is really challenging if you're addicted to caffeine. Do you like coffee? I traded diet soda for coffee and find it's much better for caffeine and doesn't have all the funky chemicals.

  5. Join the 21st century? Girl, I don't even have text messaging! I love the title Confessions Session. Don't worry about the weight loss, it'll come. Since I started training, I quit getting on the scale.

  6. My husband and I love Lee. We both like rock music to begin with, but if he ever has an album that's as good as some of the songs I've heard him do, we'd totally buy it! I don't really care for Siobhan, either; she sort of has a nasally voice that I find slightly annoying.

I've never Skyped, either, so don't feel bad! I have a webcam, but my computer is so slow and outdated that I doubt it'd even work properly. For my birthday, my hubby is buying me a new laptop (I haven't decided which one I want yet, so it may be a few more weeks), and maybe once I get it, we could set up a little date!

To cut down on coffee and drink more water, I bought Crystal Light packets (they're energy ones that have caffeine), and so far, it seems to be working. I've been drinking coffee only every other day and substituting these. Of course I like coffee a lot better, but the water with Crystal Light is a million times easier to drink than plain water. Maybe you can find something similiar to drink that will keep you away from a lot of Coke.

  7. The ONLY reason I have a webcam is because it's on my computer. But I've never used it lol.

  8. Quitting things cold turkey is SO HARD! I'm glad you've at least cut back. Baby steps right?! Have a good weekend :)

  9. Good job at least cutting back :) For some reason ever since I was a kid I get sick when I drink soda so it's not hard for me to avoid it haha. But I've got my own vices like we all do.

I think you will love skype. I just tried it for the first time this week while watching american idol with my friend and it was awesome. Still learning exactly how to do it but I think its fun so far.

  10. I don't like Siobhan either. She doesn't quite have the vocal ability that Adam Lambert has, so when she hits the high notes it sounds like she's screeching. I don't think she has the range to be honest to be hitting those notes. I do like Lee. He has a very unique voice. :)
Quitting coke is soooooooooooo hard. I've tried several times. It's like crack for me, but I'm working on only drinking it two or three times a week. It's so hard though!

  11. I'll skype with you! I'm a total skype nerd though, be warned =)

Cutting back on soda is still amazing- I'm not much of a cold tukery-er so I get where you're coming from. Balance is a good thing, right?

  12. My friend Jen was in the room when I read #5... while reading I heard it in her voice. You two would get along well! (Although, I agree on Siobhan.)

  14. Don't just all the sudden stop drinking pop, it will only break break break break break your heart (to the tune of that new top40 song). Reduce reduce reduce, gradually! It's easier :) I have a Skype, but I haven't used it since my best friend was studying abroad. I should wipe the dust off now, since my brother is in Korea. I feel so awkward on video chat. It's THE only time I'm ever uncomfortable/shy.

  15. I'm a big Diet Dr Pepper drinker. I'm not giving it up...as far as vices go, having one Diet Dr Pepper a day is about a .5 on a 10-point scale. I was able to get it down to one a day (was 3-4, then 2) by drinking A LOT of water. If it keeps me from eating sugary sweets, that's awesome!

  16. I ♥ Lee, too!!!!!!

did I just act like a 14-year-old girl there? oops.

  17. First of all, I've debated skyping before...I just don't know anyone that has it haha.

    Secondly, hands off...Lee is mine!
