February Wrap-Up

February has been a pretty lackluster month. It's been filled with training runs, homework, work, and classes. It's also been a pretty beautiful month, weather wise. We had a brief cold spell where the temps dropped into the 50s. (I KNOW! And we complained. We are winter wimps.) Other than that, it's been hitting the upper 70s most days with a slight breeze - perfect weather.

Looking back, February has had it's share of ups and downs...

  • The Green Bay Packers won the Superbowl. I was really rooting for the Packers to win, mainly because I think Aaron Rodgers is adorable but also because the Steelers have won enough and it's time for some fresh faces! It was a great game with an awesome outcome. (But it's not looking good for a 2011 NFL season. I'm getting worried.)
  • My mom and I booked our cruise! I'm over-the-moon thrilled about our upcoming cruise in late May and cannot wait to travel a little! I've never been out of the Eastern timezone so I think it's going to be a memorable five days, to say the least.
  • I developed shingles. AKA adult chicken pox. It's no fun, but definitely not as painful as people are telling me. I'm uncomfortable, but my pain is minimal. I think the most annoying part of it is the pills I have to take five times a day. Yuck.
  • I'm down 7 pounds. It wasn't a stellar month for weight loss, but I did stick to the plan every week. I'm not positive much weight loss will occur until I'm recovered from my shingles, but I just want to stick to the plan as best I can and track, track, track! I'm losing it slowly, but I'm losing it nonetheless.
  • I decided to take a big step back from blogging. No more five posts a week for me! I really need to focus on school, getting well, and learning how to de-stress better. I know blogging can get stressful for me when I try to stick to a rigid schedule so it's back to posting when I can for me.
How did your February turn out?

    1. Oh, you poor thing! I have known so many people who have gotten shingles, and it's just awful. I hope it goes away soon! I am happy it's not that painful for you.

    2. I'm sorry to hear about the shingles, too!! I hope you feel better soon.

I have to say though - other than the shingles, sounds like February was a pretty solid month. I seriously need to move to Florida and enjoy the weather..because even when it's cold, it would be warm for me!!

Totally here you on the blogging being stressful. I use to post at least five days a week and it just got overwhelming. It's your blog, you should be able to post whenever you want!!

    5. It's super important to take a step back once in a while and re-prioritize. Blogging should always be something you do happily, not a chore 5 days a week. That's why every once in a while we really do just need a break!
My February was pretty lackluster as well, here's to a better March!

    7. Hey! I'm taking a cruise in May, too! Maybe we're going on the same one? A Carnival cruise to the Bahamas?

My February, like yours, was a bit of a roller coaster. I made some great decisions and lost a bit of weight, but I also had some of the most stressful moments of my life since college and gained some of that weight back :-\ Here's to March and fresh starts!

    8. February: I MOVED TO NEW HAMPSHIRE! Weird life.

I'm so sorry to hear you have shingles. My dad had them when I was a kid, & he was absolutely miserable. I've never had chicken pox & am quite afraid of them...

The good news is that you have a cruise to look forward to. :)

    11. I'm really proud of you for losing 7 pounds!Even if you don't feel like it's much, it's still a great step, and it will help motivate you to continue. Your dedication to WW and running and getting healthy is really inspiring.

Also, I think you're taking shingles like a champ. I've heard it's completely miserable with the pain, so I'm glad it hasn't been awful for you.

As for my February, it has been total madness. Our house was burglarized at the beginning of the month, and just as we were beginning to recover, there was a shooting down the street from us a few days ago that terrified the crap out of us. So... scary. But we've been completely blessed that no one has been hurt.

      Let's go, March!

    12. Oh my goodness, shingles!? You poor thing. That sounds awful. I hope the meds are working quickly.

Hooray for booking the cruise, though :) That's great news!

I understand on taking a step back from blogging. We all have to do that from time to time!

    13. February was kind of a blur for me, in good and bad ways. My uncle passed, I went to Ukraine, I came back sick, and then the month was over! Here's to March!

    14. February wasn't the best month for me either - I couldn't use my hand for weeks, still aren't better, almost quit my job after receiving a nasty email from my boss intended for HER boss about me... (long story I can't blog about, lol!), rescued my cat from getting her head stuck in a shattered coffee pot for 8 hours, and... almost got shot when we had a guy threaten our building at gunpoint. Oh and it was -30 pretty much all month. Come ON March!! lol

    15. Congrats on the 7 pounds! That's awesome. However, shingles are a lot less awesome. Also, I completely forgot that the Superbowl was this month - it feels like ages ago!
