Five For Friday

635004_vd87z2c8kq_largevia

1. I had an unexpected day off today, which gives me an unexpected three-day weekend! I’m so excited to spend today being as lazy as possible, while also fitting in two hours at the gym and lots of laundry. Oh, well. You can’t have it all.

2. Fridays had been set aside for the past few weeks for the 30-Day Challenge, which is now officially kaput. I haven’t been feeling it in the past few weeks and wanted to move on. Maybe another time.

3. I’m on Google+ and I must say, I still don’t see what’s so great about it. I mean, I get it. It’s like Facebook for Twitter. You don’t have to have annoying people clogging your feed and filter people out and all that jazz. But it just feels like another time-waster to suck me in. I can barely keep up with e-mails and reading blogs as it is...now you want to add another social media venture in there?

4. About a month ago, the power cord my laptop came with crapped out. This happened with my last Toshiba computer and I had bought another power cord way back when for that. No biggie. I just found the other power cord, plugged it in, and was good to go. But now the power cord is not charging my battery at all when it’s plugged in. If the plug isn’t in, my computer turns off. If it is, my computer is on. I just need a new computer. And a money tree.

5. Last week, after I finished cutting up fruit at work, I was cleaning one of the big knives and accidently sliced my thumb. It was a small, tiny cut and didn’t bleed too badly so I just bandaged it up and moved on. The spot was tender for a day or two but nothing major. Yesterday, I had to cut up fruit again. I told myself to be careful while cleaning the knife. So what happened? You guessed it: I cut myself again. A little to the left of the other cut and a little longer. We can label this under: Things That Only Happen to Me.

  1. Enjoy your day off! I'm off today but got up at 5am with Matt to make his lunch...

  2. I agree about Google+ Just something else to waste time with..I do like how clean and uncluttered it is (unlike Facebook) :0

  3. 3. I had Google+ for a few days and deleted it. I don't need another thing to keep up with.

    5. I cut myself with knives all the time. It's kind of sad. I even asked for a sharp knife set for Christmas last year. Thankfully cuttings have gone down.

About your power cord....this actually happened to me. My cord died, I went to Best Buy (it was under warranty) and they gave me a new cord. Well the new cord actually shorted my battery so I wasn't able to charge it any more. I ended up needing a new battery (which is a pain, but way less expensive than a new computer). I would look into a) a different cord b) a new battery or c) all of the above!

I keep managing to wreck the part of the computer where the power cord plugs in.  So it doesn't sit flush in there and then the computer doesn't charge.  I've done that to 2 laptops and now we're on our 3rd and Dustin barely trusts me to use it anymore! So sad!

Enjoy your Friday off! Long weekends are the best thing in the whole world!

I don't get Google+ either. I'm on it but don't really have time to use it.

Google+ is still in beta, so i'm hanging in there and hoping it will just get better and better.  Word is they are working on integration with Reader and Calendar in the next week or so.  So there is potential.  Lots of it.  I think we just need to wait it out.  And if it gets to the point where we could use it instead of FB and Twitter...then we would be SAVING time because we only need to check 1 social media site instead of 3, or 4, or 10... :)

  8. Enjoy your three day weekend! Stay cool. Is FL having the heat wave like the rest of the country? I'm not sure what all the jazz about Google+ is either. I haven't had time to play with it much but I'm largely unimpressed. Have a great weekend, Stephany!

  9. Blerg—glad the cuts were nothing major. Most of my job is working with knives and I've been lucky to only cut myself a few times, none of which have needed stiches. (Going to knock on wood after this comment)

Google+? I like it's features, but it does feel like it's just something else to keep up with. FB could learn a few things from it, though.

  10. Yeah the Google+ thing so far isn't looking so good for me either. I never even remember to update it. I mean if I have you on Google+ we're either already Twitter friends or FB friends or both. It's like there's no point for it right now.

Also that whole cut your finger twice thing, you can file it under things we'd BOTH do. I'm so clumsy it's a pleasure.

Hope you're enjoying your nice long weekend!

  11. #5 ouch!  You poor thing.
#3 I completely agree with you.  Another time waster. There is so many social media avenues out there that you could spend all free time doing them and never communicate with people face-to-face or read a book.  I think you have to pick the one most important to you and stick with that one.

  12. Ugh, cuts suck.  I am clumsy with knives so that is totally something I would do!!

Hope you enjoy your 3 day weekend!!

  14. Yeah, it is very clean but so was Facebook at the beginning. I think a lot of changes are coming so that's exciting. I just forget about it most of the time so maybe one day I'll catch on to it all.

  15. I really think it's a combination of the two. I know I need a new battery (full charged, it'll only last 2-3 minutes.) and now it looks like a new cord as well. For that price, I might as well get a new computer!

  16. Yeah, I'm hanging on for the changes. I don't use Facebook much anyway so it's not really saving my time in that way. But we'll see what happens with it!

  17. Florida is *always* having a heat wave. ;) But definitely not as bad as some of the other parts of the country. Ick!

  18. I'm so over Facebook so it's the only reason I like it more. And I like how you can filter people out. Hopefully more changes will happen to jazz it up.

  19. I am not sure what to think about google+ right now. I do think I partly like it better than FB, because it's easier to organize your "friends" in those circles.... but, why do random people add you to their circles when they don't even know you???

Comments make me all giddy with excitement.
