#tootsiegram

tootsiegram

For those of you who follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you noticed I had a little visitor this past weekend. Tootsie is my boss’s dog and she comes to work with him almost every day. She is adorable, sweet, and not very ladylike (what with her snoring and grunting and all that!). My boss was going out of town Wednesday night - Saturday night and I had mentioned in passing once I would totally watch Tootsie if he ever needed me to. So he took me up on it and I was glad to oblige.

At first, I was a bit worried how Dutch would do with the new intruder. He’s very possessive of me, but he’s also very calm when he’s around other dogs. For the most part, he’s a loner and doesn’t get all crazy when he sees other dogs.

Tootsie came home with me on Wednesday night and she was a bit panicky at first. The drive home from work was a little tense. She stayed in the backseat but cried a lot. She didn’t seem to know what to make of our house or Dutch. Our first night, I made the huge mistake of letting her stay in my room and when she started crying and trying to jump onto my bed (Dutch always sleeps with me on my bed), I let her come up.

I think I slept about four hours that night. If that. You see, Tootsie snores. Loudly. And she never stops snoring. Awake, asleep, on a walk. She snores. And since I need complete silence to get to sleep, it took me a long time to finally fall asleep but when I did, I kept waking up to Tootsie.

Thursday was a very hard day to get through at work. I’m not sure I can do the whole newborn thing anymore. I need my sleep! Sleep deprivation is not for wimps and I bow down to all you mothers. I don’t know how you do it.

The next two nights, Tootsie slept in the living room and I got over 8 blessed hours of sleep both nights. Ahhhh. Rejuvenating!

In any event, aside from the snoring, Tootsie was a delightful houseguest. Her favorite place to sleep in the house was a) on the arm of our loveseat or couch and b) in one of Dutch’s beds (even though she had one of her own.) (And yes, Dutch has two beds. Along with a handful of blankets. No. He is not spoiled.) Case in point, the cutest photo I think I have ever seen in my life:

It was interesting to see her and Dutch interact. Dutch is about 8 months older than her (he’ll be 10 next week) but his energy level compared to hers is completely different. I can take Dutch on a 3-mile walk and he’s fine. He may be a little slow-moving the rest of the day but he has no issues with the walk. Tootsie? I just took her to the mailbox and back (not even half a mile round-trip) and she acted like she was dying! Girlfriend needs some exercise. :) He seems more like a puppy than she does, but people are always astonished when they find out how old Dutch is because he doesn’t act like it. I hope this means he will live to be 20 years old.

They weren’t exactly best buds, but they tolerated each other. We left them alone for about twenty minutes on Friday night and then for a good four-and-a-half hours on Saturday and they didn’t kill each other. So that’s good! And it was the cutest to see them together whenever someone walked by. It leads Dutch to bark ferociously and Tootsie would get up and stand next to him and just look at him, like, “Wait. What are we doing? Am I supposed to bark? What am I barking at?” And then she would attempt her bark. Which might be the cutest bark in the world:

It was a fun four days with them and I’m very glad I decided to do this. (Job security, anyone? Ha.) Tootsie was delightful! And so cute, it was hard to give her back on Saturday night. Alas, it helped me decide whether or not I’m truly ready to have another dog. I think I am but as cute as Tootsie was, I think I am a dachshund mom for life. But right now? I’m happy with just my little man.

And I will leave you with this. Tootsie snoring. You *know* I had to capture this on video! (Turn your volume up on this to hear it. Sound isn’t great for some reason.)

Are you a dog person? What’s your favorite breed?

Vlog Friday (2)

I’m not even going to tell you how many times I filmed this vlog. It’s disgusting. So I’m sticking with this one.

Enjoy!

What do you want to accomplish in the coming year?

Vlog Fridays

Remember that time I asked you guys to comment one of my posts with questions and that I would begin vlogging on Fridays? No? Maybe because it was on November 19!

Oh, yes. It was a while ago. It’s always been in the back of my mind to get started with these questions, but I got caught up in school, the holidays, and other things that it kept falling to the wayside.

No more! I will be vlogging (almost) every Friday for as long as I have questions to answer. I like the different aspect vlogging gives to blogging, so I basically want every single one of you to go out and record a vlog this weekend. Homework! I want to hear your voices! :)

This is my first vlog of the series, a little explanation and diving right into Jen’s question.

Comment and tell me whether you voted in the November election, and/or to ask me a question!

Odds and Ends

1288724261786_f_large via

  • I took today off work, since I had a vacation day left to use that I didn’t know I had until a few weeks ago. I’m so excited to have a day off to sleep in and finish up my Christmas shopping!
  • One of the great and not-so-great things about working in a preschool is that it gets a lot calmer and easier during the holiday season. Our numbers will go down a lot during these next two weeks which means I’m only working 4-hour days! I’m excited about that…but so not excited about what it will do to my paycheck.
  • There hasn’t been a great turnout for the Blogger Book Swap. (Feels like high school all over again! Hehe.) Right now, we have 10 people participating but I’d really like to get a whole lot more. I’m not sure if I should scrap it if nobody else signs up, or keep it going with the few that did. Thoughts?
  • I am 100% stealing Nora’s idea of “Holiday Week” on my blog next week. Full credit to her for the idea and I may have a fun surprise in store for you all on Monday!
  • I’ve been playing around with my commenting system this week and finally went back to Blogger comments, because they’re just easier for me. I did take off comment moderation because, let’s face it, I don’t get too many spam comments. And it means a lot less work for me. Yay!
  • On Wednesday, I sent off all my Christmas cards so I hope everyone who signed up gets one by Christmas. If not, they’ll be New Year cards. (Also, in doing this, I sent my first mail to Canada!)
  • After my post yesterday, I went out for a run. Yes, I know. This is why I’m so confused! I felt the urge to run, where yesterday, the thought of running made me want to throw up. I think I’m going to stick to running 1-2 days a week. I still want to run (some days), but I don’t want to make it the focal point of my exercise anymore. (And the comments on the post were awesome! Thanks so much for your support and advice.)
  • I’ve been watching The Sing-Off which has to be one of my new favorite shows. I’ve decided my favorite it Street Corner Symphony because the lead singer’s voice is incredible. How has he not been discovered yet? I think a part of me is putting this on my blog so I can listen to it over and over again. Seriously, so friggin good!
  • My weekend will consist of our bimonthly game night with my brother, possible cookie decorating, lots of shopping, and watching football. (How is the season almost over, by the way? Football season goes by way too fast. Boo!) What are you up to this weekend?

Month 4

I skipped over updating this blog about my third month on Weight Watchers, mainly because I was giving the updates at the wrong time. Since I started WW on February 21st, doesn’t it make sense to give an update around the 21st of each month? Yes?

So here you go: another vlog. Stats are at the bottom, so you could just skip the vlog and read my stats. But you wouldn’t do that to me, would you? (Also, it’s obvious I need a new camera after watching this. The quality is quite bad. And please excuse my dog licking and scratching himself in the background. He’s a weirdo.)

Month 2 – And It’s a Vlog!

I decided to join the cool kids and post a vlog about my second month on Weight Watchers. A few things before you watch:

  • Worst screenshot ever? Yep.
  • You can tell how much I hate having my bangs in my face. I push them away 439,382 times during this video. It’s distracting. I’m sorry.
  • My head looks abnormally large. It’s really not.

Starting weight (on February 21, 2010): 151.2 lbs
Current Weight (as of May 2, 2010): 144 lbs
Total weight lost: 7.2 lbs

Also, I did my measurements on Friday night before I began my 30-Day Shred challenge so I’ll definitely start sharing my results next month!

P.S. Today is my grandma’s birthday. I swear she doesn’t look a day over 55! She’s doing good with her chemotherapy, although it’s getting tougher with each treatment. She wouldn’t want me to say anything but I’m her favorite grandkid (Heh!) and I can do no wrong in her eyes. Keep her in your prayers?

Just For Kicks

My professor showed us this video yesterday in my Visual Communications class. I'm not a huge YouTube-r but when I saw this video, I knew I had to share it and preserve it. It had the whole class laughing! Enjoy!
